Borrowing Basics
Borrowing, also known as gearing or leverage, involves borrowing money to purchase a home or investment property. Whether the asset increases in value or not, loan repayments still need to be made.

Borrowing to invest is a long-term wealth creation strategy and an effective way to purchase residential property with attractive tax benefits.

Loan Structure
When it comes to borrowing, understanding how to best structure a loan is a primary consideration to manage cash flow & liability risk. When building wealth through property, loan structure can often mean the difference between purchasing one or multiple investment properties due to inadvertently limiting your borrowing capacity.

Loan Packaging
When selecting a loan product whether for owner occupier or investment, you can choose from a range of packaging options (principal & interest or interest only) and interest rates (variable or fixed) which all have bearing on the final interest rate. Overseas Applicants

We can help with finance for Non-Resident / Overseas clients anywhere in the world wanting to purchase or refinance property in Australia.

We can provide a complete package of services co-ordinating with the solicitor, property agent and lender to make the purchasing process smooth and straightforward.

Whilst each lender will differ in their lending policy, non-resident borrowers should be aware that additional security and regulatory provisions will need to be met which can include:

  • A minimum of 20% deposit will be required which can come from cash or borrowings.
  • Allowance for up to 6% for relevant government charges and stamp duties.
  • Certified copies of passport, drivers license and income information.
  • An independent property valuation report which will be arranged by the lender.
  • A loan timeframe which can range from 8 to 12 weeks. If you do not plan to be in Australia during the purchase period, you need someone to act as your Power of Attorney which we can arrange through your solicitor.
